Thank you for your visiting. My name is Dr. Monica Buettel, and I have worked in the Fort Morgan area as a school psychologist with Morgan County Re-3 schools for more than five years. Prior to that that time, I worked as an elementary music teacher, a junior high English teacher—both in the Denver Metro area—and a therapeutic foster parent in Greeley, CO. I also spent four years as a graduate research assistant for the National Center on Low-Incidence Disabilities prior to coming to Morgan County. I have an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado at Denver, and a PhD in school psychology from the University of Northern Colorado (An APA-approved psychologist training program). My dissertation research was in the area of Asperger Syndrome and High-Functioning Autism and I currently serve on the district Autism Team.
Outside of my professional role as a psychologist, I am a Christian and desire to support others in their Christian walk as they struggle with the real challenges of life and relationships. Over the past few years, I developed and coordinated a Biblical Lay Counseling ministry at our church, Bethel Baptist, in Greeley, CO. For that ministry, I trained a group of lay counselors in a short-term, skills-based, four-phase counseling approach designed to examine current life struggles in the context of God’s word and purpose for our lives, to His glory, and would like to continue to support people through this counseling approach.
